1/12/12 - The 2012 Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS). The annual Harlem Fine Arts Show is a fine art exposition and sale showcasing contemporary works that reflect African Diasporic visual culture. The Harlem Fine Arts Show has become a premiere show for exhibiting modern and contemporary art and highlighting some of the most diverse and exciting contemporary popular art. The event will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Reckson Building, 360 Hamilton Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served. The ticket price is $50.00. A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit: The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Westchester Alumnae Chapter and The Friends of the White Plains Youth Bureau/White Plains Youth Bureau. 11/10/11 - Lord & Taylor Shopping Benefit! The Lord & Taylor Shopping Benefit will take place on Thursday, November 10th at the Eastchester/Scarsdale location. Each fundraising ticket is valued at $5.00. Each participating non-profit group keeps 100% of all ticket sales. Friends and Supporters of Westchester Deltas, Inc. can go to www.lordandtaylor.com/dogoodeastchester and select Westchester Deltas Inc. in the drop down box. When you receive your ticket, you will receive 20% bonus coupons and 15% savings passes to be used all day long on fundraising day! Drop your ticket stub(s) at the Eastchester/Scarsdale location on November 10th, and you will automatically enter our non-profit group for a chance to win the Attendance Sweepstakes. Join in the fun!
10/1/11 - Exciting Volunteer Opportunity - Build a playground with us! Join us as we team up to build a playground for the children at the Mount Vernon Day Care Center, Inc., 151 South Second Avenue, Mt. Vernon NY 10550. The Mount Vernon Day Care Center, a 119-year old institution serving the children of Mount Vernon, NY, received a generous grant from KaBoom! (playground advocates) and the Kraft Food Foundation to install a new playground. The original playground, installed in 1972, was in dire need of an upgrade. This project is based on the community coming together and investing in the health and wellbeing of children. We need your help!
9/10/11 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. hosts the 7th Annual Golfing For A Cause Outing with Black Jewels Ladies Golf Association @ Putnam National Golf Club. Golfer's registration includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner and unlimited non-alcoholic on course beverages. Pre-registration ends on Friday, August 26th. On site registration opens at 12:00 PM. (You are strongly encouraged to pre-register to avoid additional on site fees.) Shotgun start at 1:00 PM. For non-golfers or new golfers there will be a 2 hr clinic with a Pro that begins at 5:00 PM. The banquet for all registered guests begins at 7:00 PM. Golf attire is required. No steel spikes are allowed on the course.
8/13/2011 - MOVIE SCREENING: "The Help." We cordially invite you to attend a premier showing of The Help. The movie screening will take place on Saturday, August 13th at Showcase Cinema de Lux Ridge Hill 29 Fitzgerald Street Yonkers, NY 10710 (Exit 6A off I-87). Doors open at 8:30 am. Continental breakfast will be served from 8:45 am to 9:15 am. The film screening will begin at 9:30 am. Tickets are $15.00 (price includes the continental breakfast). Each ticket holder will receive a complimentary $2.25 coupon to be used at the concession stand and the coupon will offset the cost of parking.
7/16/2011 - "Delta Derby - An Evening at the Races" will take place at Empire Terrace Restaurant - Yonkers Raceway from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The evening will be named in our honor at the racetrack. Buffet dinner will be served. Tickets are $60.00. We would love for you to come out in your best Kentucky Derby style attire. We will also have raffle opportunities as well as door prizes.
4/10/2011 - The 35th Annual "Toast to Spring" Scholarship Brunch @ Hilton Rye Town. Proceeds from ticket sales and indivdual donations benefit Westchester high school seniors pursuing a college education. Over $13,000 dollars in scholarships awarded annually.
1/31/2011 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. provides a grant to G.O.O.D. for Girls. The mission of G.O.O.D for Girls is to help girls reach their fullest potential and support them in their endeavors and experiences. Westchester Deltas Inc. provided a grant to this organization in support of Kiana Lee. Kiana Lee was nominated to represent Irvington at the National Young Leaders State Conference (NYLSC) in New York. Kiana accepted her nomination and joined a select group of outstanding students in Albany, New York. This grant was used to cover Kiana's tuition for this educational leadership conference.
12/18/2010 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. launches a 3 month pledge drive benefiting the "Solar Cooker Project" and the drive raises $12,960.00! The Solar Cooker Project is a program developed by the Jewish World Watch (JWW) organization. The project is committed to protecting women and girls who have fled the genocide in Darfur, Sudan from rape and other egregious forms of violence. We asked corporations, community service organizations, and the general public to provide a monetary donation towards this worthwhile project. Donations were collected from December 18, 2010 through February 28, 2011.
11/6/2010 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. hosts a private movie screening of For Colored Girls @ Cross County Multiplex Cinema. We continue to support films during the first week of release. Over 400 guests attended this event. Proceeds benefit local public service projects.
10/20 -21/2010 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. participates in the Bloomingdale's Annual Shopping Benefit @ Bloomingdales White Plains. Nearly 40 charities from Westchester County benefit from funds raised through ticket sales. More than $65,000 is expected to be distributed among participating charities, supporting their community based programs.
9/11/2010 - Westchester Deltas, Inc. hosts the 6th Annual Golfing For A Cause Outing with Black Jewels Ladies Golf Association @ Putnam National Golf Club. Proceeds benefit annual scholarships to high school students in Westchester County.
